Hi, my name is Hedwig Mansion. All my friends know me as Heidi. I am the creative and needlepoint obsessed stitcher behind NDLPT Mansion. I have always been a creative. I’ve enjoyed paper arts, oil painting and most arts and crafts over the years. I get that from my Mom. She was a wonderful seamstress, she knit beautifully, crocheted and embroidered. It was through her that was led to needlepoint as a young woman way back in the 80's. My Mom was working in a knit and needlework shop in El Paso, Texas and the owner encouraged me to try needlepoint. While I dabbled in it for a while, babies, career and everyday life got in the way and sadly needlepoint fell to the back burner. Fast forward to 2020 and the pandemic hit leaving most of us stressed, confined and in need of something to pass the time. That's when I strted stitching again, but this time with a fervor. I stitched morning, noon and night. I didn't want to stop. I couldn't stop. I was determined to learn everything I could about his wonderful craft. Go big or go home is my motto, and needlepoint is no exception.
After a long and rewarding career in the Electric Utility Business I retired and found myself with an abundance of time. Finally, I could stitch where and whenever I wanted. Needlepoint filled my every day. I took classes, joined stich clubs and went on needlepoint retreats. Needlepoint brought me so much joy. I met so many talented stitchers who shared the same passion and love for this wonderful craft. I was having fun, making many new friends, and best of all, I had found a sense of community. I finally found my people!
Along the way I discovered a love for needlepoint accessories. Like many stitchers, I was always on the hunt for items that were affordable, functional, unique and still pretty and sparkly. I amassed quite a collection of beloved accessories. Once again I couldn't stop.
Then a fateful opportunity at a stitching retreat opened a door that I didn't see coming. I found myself making needleminders and crafting accessory bags and my first popup sale was a huge success. I was hooked and NDLPT Mansion was born.
